Mental Health Network Director Steve Shrubb said the findings from the Care Quality Commission's 'Count Me In' census provided continuing challenge to mental health providers while highlighting the need for all services to work on tackling the issue

on the findings of this year’s ‘Count Me In’ census from the Care
Quality Commission, Steve Shrubb, director of the Mental Health Network
which represents the majority of NHS mental health organisations said:
“The main findings of this report on the numbers of people from BME communities in mental health settings are familiar and a continuing source of challenge for mental health services.
“The Care Quality Commission is right to acknowledge that the solution to these issues lies in all local services – from NHS mental health providers to schools and the police – working together.
“The long term issues NHS providers face with BME communities is precisely one of the reasons why the Mental Health Network have been arguing for a more overarching approach to mental illness that involves all local services in improving mental healthcare and promoting good mental wellbeing.”
