The Mental Health Act

The Mental Health Act 2007

In July 2007 several amendments to the Mental Health Act were agreed by parliament. These wide ranging changes will have significant implications for both the way services are run and how they are experienced by service users and carers.

NIMHE, as the mental health programme of CSIP, has been tasked by the Department of Health with informing people of the changes and supporting implementation by service providers - both directly and by signposting sources of information.

In response, NIMHE has created a national implementation programme, which will be delivered through the Regional Development Centres. An implementation plan for North East, Yorkshire and Humber is available to download:

National Website

The national website for implementing the programme is here.
