Our Mental Health Legislation workstream primarily focuses on the Mental Health Act, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty (DOL) and Dignity.
We have also undertaken a project to host online translations of patients’ rights under the Mental Health Act in 25 different languages. You can view the videos here.

The NHS Mental Capacity Act leads within the Yorkshire and Humber region have developed a protocol outlining the responsibilities and actions to be taken by PCTs in handling Deprivation of Liberty applications where a person is classified as usually resident in one geographical area but is receiving hospital care in another. - Protocol for the NHS Inter-Agency Management of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Applications
