Improving maternity services is a national, regional and local priority. Working closely with NHS Yorkshire & Humber and other key regional partners, the YHIP maternity work-stream aims to support PCT Commissioners and NHS Providers to deliver national policy (Maternity Matters: choice, access and continuity of care in a safe service) and the NHS Next Stage Review regional vision for maternity services.
Within the region, a strong collaborative approach to maternity service improvement has developed over the last two years. Whilst this approach recognises the importance of leading and delivering change locally, it enables leaders in the region to maximise the opportunities for peer support, share learning from local improvement projects and work collaboratively where appropriate in order to realise maximum benefit for women and families across Yorkshire and Humber.
